Holy…

On the 7th day of creation, God took a step back and looked over at all that he had made.  He gazed upon the light and the dark, the heaven and the earth, the sun and the moon and softly sighed a long, airy sigh of contentment.  Then God noticed the sea creatures and the birds, and all of the land critters.  God chuckled to himself and smiled at the sight of animals free to explore the beauty of the lands around them.    God noticed that His human creatures were smiling too.  As God came near, the sound of laughter filled the air and God’s heart overflowed with love and joy.

All of this work of creation was so very good that God decided there needed to be a special day to give thanks.  So God, being God, and not at all afraid of being still (after all that is when we hear and see the most) decided to rest and take in all the glory of creation.

On the 7th day, God rested from all His work and decided to make this day special.  God blessed this day and made it Holy.

God blessed the 7th day and made it Holy…

It is on this day we go to our places of worship and we dream of God.  We remember all that God has given us and we give thanks.  This is the day where we lift our voices in laughter, sing praises, and offer prayers to God so we can continue filling God’s heart with love and joy.

I don’t know about you, but whenever I offer my prayers and praises to God my own heart gets filled with love and joy!  Deep within me I know this feeling is a blessing from God; a blessing that reminds me to give thanks for all of the critters, people, and light in my life.  Whenever my heart begins to feel this, I whisper “Thank you God, your world is so very good.”

And God whispers right back “You’re welcome – I think so too.”  And in that moment, I can feel God’s heart and my heart connected – resting together, giving thanks, and rejoicing in creation.  Not at all a bad way to spend the 7th day!
