In the beginning, when God began to create, the heavens and all of the earth were filled with darkness and a bit of mystery. And God, being God, and not afraid of anything (not even the darkness) decided to sweep across this nothingness and fill the world with light and life. God spoke and said, “Let there be Light” and there was!

And God said, “Let there be Light”

God called the darkness Night and the light he called Day. God saw that the light was good. The light was so good in fact, it tried to get the darkness to come and be a part of it. It stretched out it’s shiny brightness and invited the dark to come and play. Can you imagine? Silly Light, trying to embrace the dark and give it a hug!

Well, I think God was pretty happy on that first day. I think God’s Spirit was excited about all the goodness and lightness yet to come. I imagine that God’s Spirit wanted to spring into the heavens like a burst of confetti!!!

What do you imagine about the first day of creation? Does your lightness want to hug the dark too? Or does it fill the space up with so much brightness that there is just a speck of dark? You can tell me what you think if you want or even better you can share your thoughts with God…

Oh and you can find this part of God’s story in Genesis Chapter 1. Wonder what day two will bring…
